This presentation covers the quasi-civil war that occurred from the 1750s through the late 1780s in northcentral Pennsylvania. Known colloquially as the Yankee-Pennamite War, the conflict involved settlers from Connecticut and those from Penn’s Peaceable Kingdom who both claimed land lawfully granted by Charles II. The story includes fraudulent deeds, roving bands of marauders and a breakaway republic in what is today the northern tier of the Keystone State.
